Editing Services
Are you looking for an editor for your novel or short story? I'm a freelance editor with over six years of experience. I was an associate and executive editor for two journals. I was also recognized as the "Editor of the Year" for a third journal. Additionally, I was published in two academic journals and have self-published two novels. As an independent author, I struggled to find good quality editing services for a reasonable price, which is why I want to offer these services.
I do all my edits using Track Changes in Microsoft Word. The amount of time for editing will depend on my schedule and the length of your manuscript. Please contact me for an estimate. I'm also willing to provide expedited editing services for an additional fee, if my schedule permits. An invoice will be emailed via PayPal, but I also accept payment on Venmo. For any individual service, half the payment is due upfront, and the other half is due when I'm done editing, but before I email it back.

- Developmental Editing Services: During the developmental edit, I focus on the story. I make comments on plot, character development, pacing, and inconsistencies. I also leave comments on any questions I have as I'm reading. After I read through the manuscript, I write a summary of my thoughts on the story--what I like and what I think could be improved. The cost for developmental editing is $8 (USD) per thousand words.
- Copyediting Services: I look at your manuscript's grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I check for consistency and accuracy throughout the piece and make sure the wording is proper and precise. I scrutinize your style and word usage by providing extensive edits and comments, while maintaining your voice and style. The cost for copy editing is $4 (USD) per thousand words.
- Proofreading Services: Proofreading is the last step before formatting and publishing. I will check for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and typos. The cost for proofreading is $2 (USD) per thousand words.
